Assignment 7.1: Weekly Journal
*Final Weekly Production Review
During this entire week, I’ve spent over 20 hours to complete my Production pitch video. The pitch is about what me selling my team’s effort into what they’re building for their production review. While attending one of my courses during this week, my instructor had given us some advice for using a few software applications for a better video presentation. Since I’m using a MacBook Pro, I’ve been utilizing both Garage band and iMovie applications to edit and record my pitches for my video.
While it’s my first time editing with these apps, I managed to navigate my way easily through both tools and started to create my pitch presentation. But before I could get started with my assignment, I had to first complete a couple of tasks. The first part was to get some footage of the team’s newest game build and paste the file on the iMovie app. I downloaded their latest build and started playtesting the game while also recording my actions on the OBS software application. Then I converted those clips into MP4 files and transferred them to my PC for video editing. The next step was to create a pitch audio recording. While I’ve been practicing my lines that I made for the pitch presentation, I still cannot overcome my voice volume when it nearly sounds monotone. Never the less, I managed to complete both my tasks and went straight into editing.
After a while, I asked a few of my fellow students for help on reviewing my pitch presentation. There were a few changes I made to my script, but it was minimal at best. Afterwards, I went back to narrative insertion in my video and finish up my video script.
There’s a reason for all of this as to why I’m explaining in detail what I’m doing for this pitch presentation. I talked with my team lead about my presentation and we both thought it would make a good PR view to upload on their company’s social media sites. This way, I am also promoting their game while selling the team’s good points to our audiences. It will take just a little more time since I need to fix a few things in my pitch presentation, but it will certainly be worth sharing to the public.
*Final Notes
During these past 7 ½ weeks of production, my only work was in documentation and observe a game team that I was assigned to. While I did offer my hand out in support, I was told by other producers not to “lean over the shoulder too much” because those folks are in the middle of production time and interference would only cause a delay to their scope. Others might say being a producer is quite easy in game production, but it’s actually down-right stressful when you have to re-organize the work and making sure tasks are completed before the final. As the acting project manager, I tried my best to help my team out to the best of my abilities. However, I could only provide minimal support since there’s barely any traction to gain from their first production.
Never the less, the production went off without any issues and all team members managed to finish their work before their next Sprint review. Honestly, I had a bit of fun working together with my assigned team and I wish them the best of luck before their next production Sprint.
