Postmortem
First time experience in participating in the Global GameJam during the continuation of the Pandemic. I participated in a team where I knew of no one from the college I used to go to. Other than having a small team, I liked how aggressive they were when we were assigned roles and wanted to make the best out of what we utilized. Unlike the previous GameJams I participated in, we managed to put a lot of effort into making the game work and improved on certain aspects of it that would triump in at least one of the best categories.
At first, I was afraid of how communications would be sevearly lacking due to the quarantine, but it didn't turn out so bad. Our team managed to talk to each other well on a Discord Server and we had made our first build in less than 15hrs. The game itself was basic, but the highlight was our artist in charge of drawing the character. Since qwe all managed to get the game in working order, there was time to add in additional features, and so our one and only artist did a sprite animation. Our team was awared for Best Animation game.
I couldn't imaging anything went wrong other than keeping up the drive to make the game work. Each of us had a role to play and we managed to pull it off, plus looking for additional ways to making it work. What I like about all of this is that everyone prioritized on their main tasks and then worked on the smaller tasks later when necessary. It was a fine way of following all my previous lessons in managing tasks and preventing overload of work. No doubt, I would like to see myself work in the same environment with the best team I met.
